Image and Archive Usage
Last updated: July 26, 2026
This policy explains how the Reggae Arts & Culture Foundation Inc. handles (1) materials offered to The Reggae Museum's archive by members of the public, and (2) requests to use images and materials published by the Foundation.
1. Contributing Materials to the Archive
Through our Contribute to the Archive form, members of the public may offer photographs, flyers, recordings, clothing, instruments, letters, publications, video footage, personal stories, or artist memorabilia for the Museum's consideration.
Submitting a description of materials through this form is an expression of interest only. It does not, by itself, transfer ownership, custody, or any intellectual property rights in the materials to the Foundation. Any transfer, loan, license, or donation of physical or digital materials will be documented separately in writing between the contributor and the Foundation before it takes effect.
2. Review and Acceptance
The Foundation reviews contribution offers at its discretion and is not obligated to accept, exhibit, or digitize any submitted materials. If we wish to proceed with a contribution, a member of our team will contact you to confirm terms, including ownership, credit, and any conditions on use or display.
3. Credit and Attribution
Materials accepted into the archive or featured in an exhibition will be credited to the contributor or rights holder in the manner agreed at the time of contribution, unless the contributor requests anonymity.
4. Using the Foundation's Images and Archival Content
Photographs, exhibition materials, and archival content published by the Foundation may not be reproduced, redistributed, or used for commercial purposes without prior written permission. To request use of specific images or materials — for press, academic research, film, or exhibition purposes — please contact us with details of the intended use.
5. Placeholder Imagery
Some images currently displayed on this Site are temporary placeholder photographs used only to illustrate layout while the Foundation's own archival photography is being prepared. Placeholder images are not part of the Museum's archive, are not historically or culturally representative of reggae or Jamaican culture, and should not be reproduced or presented as Foundation archival material.
6. Contact
